Spring 2012 Physical Activity Challenge
4-16-12 thru 6-10-12

Program goal

Kent County has been ranked the least healthy county in Delaware. Regular physical activity contributes to good health and makes you feel great! We're challenging library patrons of all ages to get moving. We invite you all to join the "Readers in Motion" program. Keep reading to learn more.

How it works

Register for the program, complete a pre-program survey, and then track your minutes of physical activity during the 8-week online program between April 16 and June 10. We’ll provide a log that automatically adds up your minutes in motion/week, so you’ll know if you’re meeting the suggested goal.

Free book bag!

Finish the program, submit a completion form, and you’ll receive a cotton canvas bag – great for transporting books!

How much activity do I need?

For good health, adults should accumulate 150 minutes/week; children should strive to be active 60 minutes/day. Moderate physical activity is movement that raises your heart rate – things like brisk walking, bike riding, and pushing a lawn mower. You can break up your activity into small increments – even 10 minutes helps! The goal is for you to be more active at the end of the program than you were at the beginning.

Library Programs

As part of this program, each library will be offering onsite events, such as healthy lifestyle seminars and fitness class demos. Participate in 3 or more of these programs between March 17 and June 10, and your name will be entered in a drawing for a $100 Visa gift card.
